In the fourth of our photo reports from AFW 2023, we cover the helicopters from both the Hellenic Army Aviation and Hellenic Navy Aviation Command.

Today was the day that the sun didn't come out to play, but it didn't matter too much seeing as we were flying at a lower level, almost down in the weeds with the helicopters.

First up was a pair of McDonnell Douglas AH-64 Apaches, followed by a solo Bell OH-58 Kiowa. A specially painted Bell UH-1H Huey (ES611 - scheme to celebrate 20 Years of 1st H.A.A.B) was unable to fly behind the Skyvan due to speed & power constraints, however, we managed to snap a very long range shot of it for posterity between the Apaches pulling away and the Kiowa joining up.

Once the Kiowa pulled away, a Hellenic Naval Aviation Command Sikorsky S-70B Aegean Hawk joined up. We completed a few circuits with the Aegean Hawk before it pulled away and the final helicopter joined up, an NHIndustries NH-90-SOH.

The NH-90-SOH is a dedicated special operations variant, and the helicopter that came alongside lived up to it's special operations designation by having two special forces operatives sitting in the open doorway on each side of the helicopter.
